A Monumental Milestone

On June 26, the Haitian Timoun Foundation (HTF) and some of our investors had the opportunity to witness the 2025 graduation of Lekol Sen Trinite’s (LST) students. It was an event full of hope and celebration!

Lekol Sen Trinite’s Graduation

With 213 students attending LST from preschool to 9th grade, 15 students graduated this year. Each of those students represents a miracle! In Haiti, 85% of children are enrolled in kindergarten due to the financial difficulties their families experience and a lack of free public education. Unfortunately, attrition happens at each grade level, and only 19% of students in Haiti complete primary school.

HTF believes that generational change begins with Haiti’s youngest people, so we started our child sponsorship program to support the education of children who would not otherwise be able to be enrolled in schools. LST is one of the seven schools that HTF partners with to empower Haitian children through knowledge and citizenship, faith formation, sports and activities, healthy nutrition, and skills development.

A Celebration of Education

Completing primary school in Haiti is worth a celebration, especially with the additional difficulties these students and their families have experienced in the last several years.

The graduation ceremony included speeches from several students, praying a blessing over the graduates, and the presentation of additional certificates, including one for the completion of a cooking class. The students who completed the cooking class put their new skills into action by preparing the food for the graduates and their families that was enjoyed  after the graduation ceremony!

The parents were full of pride watching their children receive well-deserved diplomas! We’re proud of each of the graduates and thankful for the commitment of their families in completing this significant milestone. A huge thank you to our child sponsors who continue to invest in the education of Haiti’s young people. You’re making miracles happen.

Preparing for What’s Next

Immediately following their graduation, the graduates started four days of government exams. These tests determine if they are allowed to continue their education.

Seven of these students will be transitioning into our Living Faith program. Our Living Faith program, developed by our  In-Country Director, Luckner “Maya” Fond-Rose provides resources to pay for tuition, supplies and uniforms for students to enroll in an upper school near their home. Oftentimes, these students are the first in their families to complete high school. We’re still seeking sponsors for the other eight students so they’ll be able to attend upper school through HTF’s Living Faith program. Monthly sponsorship is $55.

We’re so proud of the LST graduates and cheering them on during the next chapter of their education! We believe in a brighter future for Haiti, and that begins with investing in children and ensuring they have access to education. We’re only able to do this vital, transformative work because of the generosity of our donors.
