Empowering Families Through the Kid4Kids Program

On May 31st, 2026, Haiti celebrated Mother’s Day. At Centre d’Education Integree (CEI), this day was celebrated with a gift that will have a lasting impact.

Fifteen mothers received kid goats through CEI’s Kid4Kids livestock program, providing the family with assets and an opportunity to generate income. When a family receives the kid goat, they agree to care for it. They raise the goat, and when it produces offspring, they bring a kid goat to CEI so that another family can benefit. While they’re raising the goat, families receive training on property veterinary care, feeding and breeding practices. The goat also provides the family with vital nutrition through milk.

The Kid4Kids program started in 2019 in the mountainous village of Lamontagne, Haiti, the home of CEI and its community. The rural families who call this village home have very little and often struggle to generate the necessary funds to enroll their students in school. By entrusting a young goat to them, families take steps towards self-sufficiency and are able to participate in the local economy. The family is empowered by generating income, developing resilience, and raising their children with dignity.

HTF’s long-time Congregational Partner, Epiphany Lutheran Church in Pickerington, Ohio, supports the Kid4Kids program annually. Each Advent season, they create a Good Gifts Christmas catalog which invites their congregation to “purchase” items to support their mission partners. The goats are one of the items that individuals can “purchase.” Epiphany Lutheran Church also invests in CEI through child sponsorship and won the Hoops for Haiti competition in 2025, a campaign that funded the expansion of three additional classrooms on CEI’s campus. Their generosity is putting hope into action for families at CEI.

Programs such as Kid4Kids embody the ethos of HTF. With belief from the HTF community in the United States, families in a rural village in Haiti can experience generational change that transforms their lives through economic development and education.
