A Week of Joy, A Promise Kept

In 2010, in the wake of the earthquake, the HTF community made a promise to the children of Haiti: we will not forget you. Summer camp was born from that promise.

Sixteen years later, it goes by several names: Fèt Bondye Bò Lanmè, God's Party by the Sea, and, to the kids who attend, the Best Camp Ever. What began with a handful of children welcomed more than 200 this July for a week of learning, playing, singing, praising, and dancing together.

Camp is about more than fun; it nourishes the mind, body and spirits of the campers. Most of these children rely on meals at school, so when summer arrives, food insecurity rises sharply. Every camper receives breakfast and lunch each day, which means a full stomach to go along with a full day of joy. For many families, that makes a real difference.

So much care goes into making this magical week happen. Behind every activity and every joyful moment is our In-Country Director, Maya, who makes this week possible. From recruiting volunteers to preparing food, purchasing supplies, and organizing all the activities, Maya pours himself into every detail so that children can experience the BEST CAMP EVER.
